The recommended web browser is Safari 5 for Windows or Mac. The recommended video player is VLC for Windows or Mac. These will also play on mobile devices, etc. if you have the right converter or codec. The format is .mp4 with H.264 encoding. Playing on iTunes and some other Apple software requires no decoding or conversion; just rename the file extension .m4v instead of .mp4  .
