Quick Remedy for Google Docs problems

Most of you seem to be accessing Google Docs pretty easily, but for those who are having trouble, the first thing to check is your browser. It works very poorly with Internet Explorer but should work well with Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. The next thing I can try after that is to share to your alternate email address; as you know the GMU email addresses sometimes misbehave.

Late Night / Early morning note for those who notice it. I have made the blank template and sample available for the Scene Analysis worksheet. Click "Scene Analysis" above and follow the links.

  1. I was looking over the sign up worksheet on Google Docs and I signed up for my article analysis on 4/4 (Viti / Law) and then I noticed there were two due dates for the first draft (4/5 and 4/12) both of which are on a tuesday! Are those the correct due dates? And if they are correct, does that mean I will have to drop by during office hours to turn in my first draft?

  2. I also have another question about the articles: I know we will be analyzing and writing about the article we signed up for, but will everyone have eventually read all the articles as part of the reading for class? When I look over the syllabus that is what I understand. Is that correct?

  3. Abigail, good questions.

    1) All submissions are electronic, so yes, I want you to submit it on Tuesday. As to your article analysis, that date of 4/4 mainly indicates that we will discuss it in class. I would advise you to actually do it at least a few days before that in order to give yourself time to transition into your first draft rather than doing them more or less at the same time.

    2) My intention is for everyone to read all 10 articles, but assigning each student to a particular article is a concession to the reality that "reading" is a spectrum... the designated students for a given article are forced to read much more closely!

  4. For some reason, I can't access the links for the Articles.

  5. Would anyone be willing to trade scene analysis' with me? I am signed up for 5.5-5.6 due 3/30 but I really want to do the Economics Article which is numbered 17, and unfortunately both my scene and article selections are in the same time cap for the essay. Is there any way someone would switch their scene analysis with me -- I need to do one that fits the FIRST draft essay dates. Thank you!
